Vegas Rapper Arrested After Confessing Murder In Music Video

A Nevada rapper found himself under arrest on a murder charge after Las Vegas authorities alleged that he openly confessed to the crime through his song lyrics.

Kenjuan McDaniel was taken into custody on August 29, facing an open murder with a deadly weapon charge, as reported in a press release by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Court records reveal that his bail was established at $1 million, with electronic monitoring, during a hearing held on Thursday.

McDaniel had previously attracted law enforcement attention as a person of interest in the September 18, 2021, homicide of Randall Wallace. This suspicion was partly due to his association with a vehicle that matched the description of one implicated in the crime, as disclosed in a redacted arrest warrant obtained by CNN affiliate KVVU.

In July, a detective stumbled upon a music video shared by McDaniel on YouTube and meticulously reviewed its lyrics and content, according to the warrant. The warrant specified that the music video bore a striking resemblance to the specific details of the murder, even going so far as to state that Kenjuan openly admitted to the crime in his lyrics. The warrant further pointed out that the information provided by Kenjuan in his music video had not been disclosed to the public and was not common knowledge.

One of the lyrics cited in the warrant read, “Parked the car, doubled back on foot, the most clever way to approach, drove in, ensured the man’s double demise, make sure you retrieve your ‘bod’.” The warrant asserted that this lyric contained undisclosed details of the murder, and additionally noted that while performing in the video, McDaniel reenacted elements of the crime that were “consistent with the evidence found at the crime scene.”

The warrant concluded by affirming that the facts gathered during the investigation were independently obtained and corroborated by the content of the music video. A preliminary hearing for McDaniel has been scheduled for Thursday.
